Victoria’s Secret revamp is working, Wexner says

Les Wexner sought to assure shareholde­rs that L Brands is making progress turning around its struggling Victoria’s Secret label.

At the company’s annual shareholde­r meeting, Wexner told investors that “I’m very optimistic that we’ve laid the foundation­s” for the lingerie brand’s revival.

Wexner reviewed a tumultuous year in which L Brands dropped two of its brands (La Senza and Henri Bendel), cut its dividend in half and faced an investor challenge to split up the company.

Wexner reminded shareholde­rs that the company’s Bath & Body Works brand had its “best year ever.”

Men’s clothier Bonobos will open in Short North

The men’s clothing company Bonobos announced that it will open its first central Ohio store in the Short North this summer.

The chain will lease 1,500 square feet on the ground floor of 875 N. High St.

This will be the third Ohio location for Bonobos, which Pizzuti calls the “largest apparel brand ever built online in the United States.” Bonobos also operates stores in Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Upstart Network wins tax breaks from city

The Columbus City Council approved tax breaks for Upstart Network, a San Francisco-area lender that is opening in the Short North.

The company plans to employ 100 full-time workers with an estimated payroll of $10.75 million.

Upstart Network will receive a job-growth incentive that will yield cash payments to the company totaling between $335,938 and $403,125 over five years.

Shake Shack ready to open in Easton

The New York burger chain Shake Shack previewed its first central Ohio restaurant in anticipati­on of its opening today at Easton Town Center.

The chain will occupy the 3,523-square-foot space formerly occupied by Tesla.

Shake Shack, which began as a New York City food cart in 2004, also plans a restaurant in the Short North.
