The Perry County Dog Shelter will be closed for two weeks because of an outbreak of canine influenza.

The shelter at 1650 Commerce Drive in New Lexington about 60 miles southeast of Columbus is asking for donations of bleach, paper towels and disinfecti­ng cleaning products to prevent the illness from spreading, according to a post on the shelter’s Facebook page.

Canine influenza, also known as “dog flu,” is a contagious respirator­y disease with symptoms of cough, runny nose, lethargy, eye discharge and reduced appetite, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Most dogs recover in two to three weeks, and there is no evidence that the illness can spread from dogs to humans. convenienc­e store owner.

The woman’s daughter had run a half-mile from the home to a restaurant while naked to say that Guillereau­lt had sexually assaulted her.
