Canada shuts out Denmark, Austria relegated at worlds

Canada shut out Denmark 5-0 for a fifth straight victory at the ice hockey world championsh­ip in Kosice, Slovakia, on Monday.

Sam Reinhart scored two goals and the rest went to Jonathan Marchessau­lt, Pierre-luc Dubois, and Jared Mccann. Mark Stone finished the Group A game in Kosice with two assists.

Carter Hart stopped 21 shots and Mackenzie Blackwood made three saves to combine for the shutout.

Canada climbed to second in Group A with 15 points, one behind leading Finland and one ahead of the United States.

In Group B, newcomer Italy survived among the top teams after prevailing over Austria 4-3 in a penalty shootout. Austria is relegated.
