Not even a holiday can slow Ohio State’s recruiting roll.

Cameron Martinez, the 2018 Michigan high school player of the year, became the latest commitment to the Buckeyes’ burgeoning 2020 recruiting class on Thursday.

Later in the day, Ohio State continued to stockpile offensive linemen when Josh Fryar, a center from the Indianapolis area, announced his commitment on Twitter.

Martinez and Fryer are the fifth and sixth commitments in the past week to the Buckeyes’ 2020 recruiting class, which ranks fourth nationally and now includes 18 players.

Martinez plays quarterback for Muskegon High School but is considered a wide receiver/hybrid or defensive back in college. Bucknuts recruiting analyst Bill Kurelic expects him to play safety at Ohio State.

“They told him, ‘It’s your choice,’” Kurelic said. “They love him on both sides of the ball.”

Martinez also is a potential kick returner.

The 6-foot, 195-pounder is listed as a three-star prospect in the 247sports composite rankings, but 247sports itself ranks him as a four-star player.

“Just a really talented, versatile athlete,” Kurelic said. “Good speed, very athletic, good size to either play safety or receiver. I think he has the ability to be outstanding.”

Martinez had 28 scholarship offers, including from Michigan and Michigan State.

Fryar, who attends Beech Grove High School, is the sixth offensive lineman in the recruiting class to announce his intention to sign with the Buckeyes. The group of linemen is headlined by Paris Johnson, a tackle from Cincinnati who is one of the nation’s top overall prospects.

Fryar is rated as a threestar recruit in the composite rankings compiled by 247Sports and the eighthbest center prospect in the nation. He was also the second-best prospect in Indiana.

Among the linemen who previously committed to the Buckeyes was Luke Wypler, the nation’s top-ranked center prospect. But at 6-5 and nearly 300 pounds, Fryar has enough size to play elsewhere along the offensive line.

Fryar took an official visit to Ohio State last month, as well as other trips to Oregon and Penn State.
