- Ten shows to watch or record: — Chuck Barney East Bay Times

• "The Movies — The Eighties" (9 p.m., Sunday, CNN): The six-part documentar­y series spotlights American films through the decades while examining the cultural, societal and political shifts that influenced them. Tom Hanks is an executive producer on the project, which kicks off with a look at popular titles of the 1980s, including “The Empire Strikes Back,” “E.T. the Extraterre­strial” and “The Breakfast Club.”

• "Chasing the Moon: American Experience" (9 p.m., Monday, PBS): The three-part series is among the many programs this month marking the 50th anniversar­y of the first moon landing. It recalls the era of the space race, from its earliest days to 1969, when astronaut Neil Armstrong made one giant leap for mankind.

• "Love Island" (8 p.m., Tuesday, CBS): This bizarre reality dating series that sends contestant­s to a villa in Fiji where they must couple up. Those who fail to find a partner risk being banished from the island.

• "I Love You, Now Die"

(8 p.m., Tuesday, HBO): The twopart documentar­y examines the 2014 case in which 18-yearold Conrad Roy killed himself in Fairhaven, Massachuse­tts. Police soon discovered alarming text messages from his girlfriend, 17-year-old Michelle Carter, that seemed to encourage him to commit suicide.

• "The Disappeara­nce"

(10 p.m., Tuesday, WGN America): Peter Coyote heads the cast in the six-part psychologi­cal drama that centers around the unexplaine­d and Damson Idris as Franklin Saint in “Snowfall”

sudden disappeara­nce of a 10-year-old boy and the investigat­ion that leaves a devastatin­g impact on every member of his family.

• "2019 ESPY Awards" (8 p.m. Wednesday, ESPN): Comedian Tracy Morgan hosts the 27th annual edition of the starstudde­d event that honors top athletes, teams and performanc­es. Among the big-name nominees this year are Serena Williams, Tiger Woods, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokoun­mpo and Mikaela Shiffrin.

• "Snowfall" (10 p.m., Wednesday, FX): As the third season begins, Franklin (Damson Idris) and Cissy (Michael Hyatt) look to make an investment in the community, while Andre (Darius Mccrary) tries to figure out what’s destroying it. Meanwhile, Jerome (Amin Joseph) unveils his new business and Teddy’s (Carter Hudson) operation in Mexico becomes more complicate­d.

• "The Outpost" (9 p.m., Thursday, the CW): When the fantasy-adventure series returns for Season 2, Talon (Jessica Green) summons a new threat, recalling the ghosts of her childhood. Also, while Garret (Jake Stormoen) hunts for Dred (Philip Brodie), Gwynn (Imogen Waterhouse) prepares the Outpost for war.

• "Point Blank" (Friday, Netflix): Frank Grillo, Anthony Mackie and Marcia Gay Harden star in the gritty new action film that follows an emergency room nurse, who in an effort to rescue his abducted wife, unwillingl­y partners with a badly injured murder suspect. They run up against rival gangs and a deadly ring of corrupt cops.

• "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwal­d" (8 p.m., Saturday, HBO): In the second installmen­t in the fantasy series, magizoolog­ist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) tries to thwart Grindelwal­d’s (Johnny Depp) call for pureblood wizard domination, sending a rippling divide throughout the wizarding world.
