WHERE I EAT

- — Tanisha Thomas tthomas@dispatch.com @tanishajanae

Q: How often do you eat out?

A: Five times a week.

Q: What are your favorite neighborhood places?

A: Plank’s (Cafe & Pizzeria, 743 Parsons Ave.) for takeout pizza or Cardo’s Pizza (3606 Lockbourne Road). The Thurman Cafe (183 Thurman Ave.) for hamburgers. For wings, I like Rooster’s (multiple central Ohio locations). Hyde Park (Prime Steakhouse, multiple central Ohio locations) for steak.

Q: What's your favorite special-occasion restaurant? What do you enjoy?

A: Hyde Park is my go-to. I love their steak Kosar. It’s a filet mignon. I'll get asparagus on the side. I usually get a Caesar salad with it, and their scalloped potatoes are great. I also like to go to

Sandman’s Cheesesteak (111 W. Nationwide Blvd).

Q: How about for ethnic fare?

A: Gallo’s (Kitchen & Bar, 2820 Nottingham Road) has really good Cajun food. There’s also a Chinese place called Rice Kitchen (3976 Alum Creek Drive). It’s a hole in the wall. There's also the Rice Bowl (2300 S. High St.). I usually get the Rice Kitchen for takeout and Rice Bowl for a sit-down place. Oh, and Cafe Istanbul (multiple central Ohio locations). I really like that place.

Q: When friends visit from out of town, where do you take them?

I like going to Schmidt’s (Sausage Haus und Restaurant, 240 E. Kossuth St.) because of the unique atmosphere, and it has good food. It’s in a good location. They usually have a band playing too. It's reasonably priced if you're taking a large group out.

Q: How about for breakfast?

A: Tommy’s Diner (914 W. Broad St). I like Nancy’s (Home Cooking, 3133 N. High St.), Tee Jaye’s (Country Place, multiple central Ohio locations) and Dan’s Drive In (1881 S. High St.)
