Shooting in North Linden results in boy’s death

Columbus police homicide detectives are investigat­ing the fatal shooting of a boyfriday night in North Linden.

Police received a call at 8:05 p.m. about the shooting from the victim's cousin and responded to the 800 block of Weldon Avenue near Maize Road and Pontiac Park, police

“This looked like a neat option,” Dewine said. “We are down in an area that some people don’t see.” The park was dark and

dispatch said.

Theboy was transporte­d by Columbus Fire medics to Ohio Health Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:42 p.m.

Homicide detectives were on the scene investigat­ing, looking for witnesses and trying to determine a potential suspect.

Police would not release the age or any further informatio­n about the victim pending notificati­on of family.

The death is believed to be the city's 61st homicide this year.
