Tom breaks tie with winning RBI double

Andrew Velazquez singled in the tying run in the seventh, and one inning later Tom delivered the winning hit.

Clippers starter Michael Peoples surrendere­d two runs and five hits in 6 innings. He struck out four and didn’t walk a batter.

Kyle Nelson (2-0) entered the game in the eighth and earned the win with a scoreless inning of work. James Karinchak struck out two in the ninth to notch his first save of the season.

The Clippers collected 12 hits. Johnson, Velazquez and Tom all were 2 for 4 at the plate, and everyone in the order had at least one hit.
