Trolley to link 2 breweries’ anniversary parties
Two prominent Columbus breweries plan to celebrate anniversaries at the same time Saturday with live music and special beers, so they’ve partnered with a trolley company to make sure that people can attend both.
Wolf’s Ridge Brewing is holding its sixth-anniversary party at its Downtown brewery and taproom, and Land-grant Brewing Co. will celebrate its fifth anniversary at its Franklinton taproom.
The breweries have brought in the Short North Trolley Co. to provide free transportation between the two locations, which are roughly a mile and a half apart.
“When we realized our anniversary parties were on the same day, we figured everyone would want to be a part of both, so we decided to make it convenient and accessible for everyone,” said Kayla Chandler, Landgrant’s taproom events manager.
Both events are free. Wolf’s Ridge, at 215 N. 4th St., will have its celebration, which it has dubbed “Wolfstock,” in its taproom, an adjacent special event space and an alley off East Hickory Street next to the brewery.
“Think about this as three huge spaces dedicated to one party,” said Jenny Hauck, Wolf’s Ridge event coordinator.
The festivities will begin at 10 a.m. and end at midnight. The brewery will have a barbecue pit outside, and all proceeds from 10 draft beers that will be sold in the outdoor space will benefit the Dick and Jane Project, a Columbus nonprofit initiative that connects area middle school students with musicians who teach them about the music-making process.
The anniversary party will feature live music, and beers available only at the party, plus a few new beers that will launch that day.
Land-grant’s celebration, at 424 W. Town St., also will include live music, which will start at 1 p.m., and special-release beers, plus five food trucks. The festivities will start at noon and end at midnight.
The brewery plans to show the Ohio State-nebraska football game, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., on a large-screen TV.
