A Gahanna Lincoln High School student has become the third person to die from a fiery crash Saturday night that also injured two of his classmates near a major intersection on Columbus’ Northeast Side.

Jashawn Scott, 17, a junior at Gahanna Lincoln and a wide receiver on the football team, died at Mount Carmel East hospital as a result of injuries suffered from the crash, Gahanna Lincoln Principal Jessica Williams announced in an email sent out Tuesday to high school students, families and staff.

Counselors were made available to speak with students in each of Scott’s classes Tuesday, and they will be available throughout the week.

Columbus police said the crash occurred about 10 p.m. and involved three vehicles on Morse Road near the intersection of Sunbury Road.

Scott was a passenger in an Audi A6 headed east on Morse Road driven by Kobie Stillwell, 18, Gahanna. Stillwell and another passenger, 17-year-old Khaleb Watson, were taken to Ohiohealth Grant Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. Stillwell and Watson are also students at Gahanna Lincoln.

A woman driving a westbound Toyota Camry, whose identity has not been confirmed yet, and a female passenger, Anju Biswakarma, 24, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, police said.

Biswakarma’s sister, 22-year-old Srijana, also a passenger in the Camry, was critically injured, police said.

A moment of silence will be observed at Gahanna’s Friday night football game against Lancaster to honor Scott and to honor Thomas Brown, a 2013 Gahannajefferson alumnus and middle school football coach who also died over the weekend. Brown was in his first year as a special education teacher at Westerville South High School.
