Nelsonville festival moving online
This year’s Nelsonville Music Festival will migrate from the rural landscape of Athens County to the World Wide Web.
Amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the virtual festival will take place Aug. 21-22, beginning at 8 each night. Audiences can find performances on the Youtube channel of Stuart’s Opera House, the nonprofit theater in Nelsonville that produces the festival.
At least 24 acts will perform brief sets of one to five songs across both nights, including Columbus folk trio
Caamp, North Carolina folk duo Mandolin Orange, San Francisco acoustic duo Hot Tuna, South Carolina folk duo Shovels & Rope and Portland, Oregonbased singer/songwriter Todd Snider.
Admission to the festival is free, but donations to Stuart’s Opera House are encouraged. For more information, call 740-753-1924 or visit nelsonvillefest. org.
