US Postal Service deserves public support
O’connor has led court effectively
Supreme Court of Ohio Chief Justice Maureen O’connor has provided strong leadership to the Ohio legal community in the midst of the current pandemic. She lobbied to have legal services deemed an essential service at the onset of the pandemic; promoted remote CLE’S for the bar, especially those on pandemic-related topics; insisted on flexible docket schedules to accommodate the health issues of the public and legal system personnel; and advocated for a vaccine preference for court personnel.
Her leadership has been both proactive and effective. Maureen is a COVID-19 heroine.

I am a faithful customer of the U.S. Postal Service. How can anyone experiencing the year we’ve just been through expect the USPS not to face the same unexpected hurdles as individuals and businesses? Fewer planes were in the air so less mail could be loaded on these flights. Sorting machines had been removed from distribution centers. COVID-19 encouraged retirement of older postal workers.
My favorite postal clerk told me the major problem was staffing at the distribution and sorting facilities. They were operating with skeleton crews due to staff vacancies, COVID-19 illnesses, and employees being required to quarantine. This is the first year that I’ve had any delivery issues with Christmas mail and packages. And let’s not forget that more people than ever were using USPS this year to order and to send seasonal gifts.
We also had a guy in charge of the post office who was put there by President Donald Trump who, for some reason, wanted to do away with another American institution. It might not be perfect but it still provides necessary services to communities and I for one will continue to support it.
