Investigators believe 3-year-old Nylo Lattimore was dumped into the Ohio River alive by the man who stabbed his mother to death.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters is seeking the death penalty for Desean Brown, 21, who is charged with murder in both killings.

“He chose to kill Nylo in an incredibly barbaric method,” Deters said at a press conference Wednesday. “I still have nightmares about this.”

Nylo’s body is still missing, despite Cincinnati police and volunteer groups searching more than 180 miles of the river. Deters wouldn’t go into detail, but said murder convictions have happened without a body before and the evidence in this case is strong.

Deters said Brown had planned for months to kill his girlfriend, Nyteisha Lattimore, before he stabbed her to death in a Walnut Hills apartment around Dec. 5. He said Brown waited several days, leaving her body in the apartment, then carried her out in a body bag he ordered off ebay.

Deters said Brown called an Uber to

drive him to the river, telling the driver the large bag was just some clothes.

Investigators believe Brown tried to throw Lattimore’s body into the river the night of Dec. 11. She was discovered around 3:30 a.m. near Downtown’s Purple People Bridge on Dec. 12.

An image from a surveillance camera shows what Deters said was Brown carrying the body in a body bag wrapped in a blanket.

Deters said the evidence shows Nylo was thrown in the river after his mother was killed, but before her body was dumped.

“I cannot even imagine what that little boy was going through,” Deters said.

He said the method Brown used to allegedly kill Nylo was “gruesome.”

“He died a miserable death,” Deters said.

Cincinnati police homicide detectives said Nylo’s blood was found on a Paw Patrol blanket recovered with his mother’s body, and his stroller was found nearby.

Brown was arrested in connection with Lattimore’s death Dec. 12, the day her body was discovered.

The same day, Nylo was reported missing to Cincinnati police. Tonio Hughes filed the report, which states he is Nylo’s father. Hughes told police Nylo had last been seen Dec. 4.

Brown is charged with two counts of aggravated murder, one count of gross abuse of a corpse and one count of tampering with evidence. He was being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on a $1 million bond.

Police are still searching for Nylo’s body.

“In all my years as prosecutor, I have never seen such a cold-blooded act committed against an innocent woman and her 3-year-old baby,” Deters said.

A Madeira man was arrested Wednesday after officials said he shared child pornography with undercover officers.

John “Ned” Donnelly, 55, is charged with two counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, according to court records. He is currently being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center.

University of Cincinnati spokesperson said that Donnelly has been placed on administrative leave, which is consistent with UC policy.

Donnelly is the academic program director of medical education in UC’S College of Medicine. Donnelly had images of prepubescent girls exposing their private areas to the camera, court documents say. He admitted to downloading, uploading and sharing child pornography, documents say.

Donnelly was identified during an undercover investigation of his online internet activities, according to a Wednesday news release. The investigation was conducted by members of the Regional Electronics and Computer Investigations section and in partnership with the nationwide taskforce Internet Crimes Against Children.

The investigation is ongoing, officials say.
