DIPLOMATIC TRAVEL

1954 - 2021

-

Joey Randell Mitchell, age 66, proud North High Polar Bear, passed away on Feb. 22, 2021. Joey was one of life’s great characters! If you met him you will remember! Joey was the first crush of many girls in the Hamlet/ 11th Avenue area. They still talk about how handsome he was! Today, many 60+ women are crying and remembering how much fun he was to be around. Though he didn’t graduate because of

flunking “Sales” (too much

time under the bridge), he spent 3 years with the class of ‘72! Joey went on to become a masterful carpenter, building many

fine homes and businesses

around Central Ohio. He was at his happiest with

a fishing pole or a bass

guitar in his hands! Joey was a lifelong fan of the Buckeyes, Browns and Yankees! Joey was preceded in death by parents

Mae and Toy Mitchell Sr. and brother Sammy. He is

survived by his long time companion Debbie Travis and Bailey Cornell, whom they raised together. In a few weeks Bailey was to be given away in marriage by her beloved Joe Joe! It was something he was really looking forward to! He is also survived by brothers

Bruce (Debbie), Toy Jr., Mickey and Kevin (Virg) as

well as sister Cathy, with whom he had a special

bond. She loved her crazy

little brother with all her

heart! The first words out of

her mouth at any gather

ing were “Where’s Joey?”.

He will be sorely missed by younger sisters Joyce

Weinberger and Patricia

Hanawalt, whom he made a pastime of cracking up! He is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews and ensuing generations of grand...s. The world is a lesser place without Joey but where he is now there

is no pain, every cast finds a “hog” and there is always

a jam session going on.

We already miss him and

he will always be loved and never forgotten! To share a condolence with the family, please visit www.newcomercolumbus.com.
