-

1932 - 2021

Gerald “Jerry” E. Seymour, age 88, passed on April 7, 2021 after a lengthy illness with Guilain Barre. After high school, Gerald joined the United States Air Force as a Flight Engineer during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany; where he met his wife, Emma M. Kirchner as she served him his favorite ice cream treats in the Snack Bar at the PX. After bringing his bride to Columbus, they made their home in New Rome where he built their first home himself. Gerald has two children, Tommy and Leah who are the apples of his eye. He worked at Copco Paper as a mechanist and manager for many years, only retiring to begin the next chapter of life. He was always interested in his family, friends, camping, fishing and traveling. Gerald never met a stranger, he spoke to everyone and he would always lend a hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed tinkering with mechanical things; especially lawn mowers, where he lovingly earned the name of “The Lawnmower Man.” Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Lizzie Seymour, siblings Carl E. (Mary) Seymour, Aurelia (Maynard) Leedom, Gilbert L. (Lucille) Seymour, Dorothy (Donald) Tillis, Evelyn (Chester) Perry, James W. (Irene) Seymour and Thelma Dearth. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emma

M. Seymour; son, Thomas (Terri) Seymour; daughter, Leah (Frank) Sheridan; 3 grandsons, Justin (Cortney) Seymour, Alex Sheridan and Rylan Sheridan; 1 great granddaughter, Charlotte “Charlie” Seymour. The family will receive guests on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 4-7pm at Newcomer-sw Chapel, 3393 Broadway in Grove City.
