Sleeper, Christine

1953 - 2021

-

Christine Innis Sleeper, born October 8, 1953, passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2021. Chris is survived by her loving husband, Samuel John Mcconnell, who continued to love and adore, even more each day through her recent challenges with Alzheimer’s. She loved Sam and being a mom more than anything, and would have never wanted to live in a world where she didn’t know her children, Adam (Jennie) Sleeper, Ben (Nikki) Sleeper, Matt (Michelle) Sleeper and Cassandra Sleeper. She is also survived by her stepson, Matthew (Lisa) Mcconnell; brother, Andy Innis; and was the greatest ‘Candy Granny’ to Braden, Connor, Tyler, Maddox, Addison, Mitchell, Max and Reid. We are comforted knowing her mind is young again as she is finally reunited with her sister, Beverly Kreijci and parents, Joan and Clement

Innis in heaven. Anyone who knew Chris, knows what an amazing mother she was – she lived for her children and was truly the ultimate MOM! She treasured and embraced every moment with them: head room mom at IC for all 4 kids, Troop Leader for the Cub Scouts, favorite chaperone on field trips, and

so much more - she never missed an opportunity to make memories with them. She especially loved her role as Candy Granny and has left her grandkids with so many cherished memories of teaching them to bake, decorating cupcakes, doing crafts and making them laugh. Chris was a fierce mama bear without

any regret and nothing would ever stand in her way of loving and protecting her children. In Chris’ mother’s journal she wrote: “When I’m feeling down, I like to think about you kids and all the times you have made me laugh; our vacations and the times we have spent together. I also love to think of Sam and how much he has added to my life. I know he will always love me and take care of me – NO MATTER WHAT.” Her kids were always mystified how she seemed

to know everything, and this was no different when it came to Sam… spot on! Chris adored Sam as much as he adored her and, even when she lost her knack for ‘knowing,’ his love for her only grew stronger. For the past 30 years, Sam has been Chris’ rock, and she his everyday world. They’re favorite date was going to see The Moonbats and Sam always made sure they got there early enough to be in the front row, because that was mom’s favorite spot. The amount of love Christine had for her children and Sam was nothing short of amazing. She will be greatly missed by her family and loyal friends, but the power of her love will always be felt. Her family will receive friends on Friday, April 23, 2021, from 3-7pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221 – open to the public.
