April Dawn Williams, 50, of Columbus, OH, former

ly of Waynesfiel­d, OH, passed away at her home with her family at her side after a brave fight with cancer on April 19, 2021. April was born on May 20,

1970 in Lima, OH to Larry and Karen Williams, who reside in Powell, OH. April graduated from Waynesfiel­d-goshen High School in 1988 as class salutatori­an. She graduated from Miami University in 1992 with a degree in psychology. April worked to help autistic adults live independen­tly while attending graduate school in Columbus. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 1998 with her master’s degree in special education. April worked for Southweste­rn City Schools in elementary and middle school special education for over 20 years. April had a love for life. Her friends describe her as adventurou­s, loving and fun. April loved gardening and surrounded her home with beautiful flowers and vegetable gardens. She loved to travel and took many trips throughout the Caribbean and to Europe. April’s favorite place to travel was to Jamaica. April wholeheart­edly loved her family, friends, and pets, and will be deeply missed. April is survived by her parents; sister, Heather (Asher) Williams Swihart; and beloved nieces, Eva, Arela, Ruby and Stella. April is preceded in death by her grandparen­ts Allice “Sally” and Ernest “Bus” Williams, Robert Wheeler and Imogene Kirkland Wheeler. April will be interred at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Goshen Twp, Auglaize Co, OH with a private family gathering. Her family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be given to an animal rescue of the donor’s choice. Services are in the care of Shoffstall Funeral Home.
