Elijah Paul Lucas went to be with his Lord and savior August 18, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born November 12, 1924. Oldest of ten boys born to William Henry Lucas and Goldie Jane Lemaster. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS pursuit as a member of the signal corps. Upon returning, Paul graduated from West Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s in education. He taught at Mann High School in West Virginia and Whitehall High School in Columbus. In 1947 he married Jean Marie Cutright. They were married 54 years. He received his Master’s degree to Marshall University in guidance counseling in

1954. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a charter member of the Whitehall Church of the Nazarene where he was very active for many years. Preceded

in death by first wife Jean Marie Lucas, granddaugh­ter Dana Leigh Myers and great grandson Shane Hall. Survived by second wife, Helen Higgins; and daughter, Paula Higgins. Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Bev (Tom) Messenger, Donna (Dan) Myers, Bruce (Fancy) Lucas, Jeff (Beth) Lucas; 14 grandchild­ren, 25 great grandchild­ren, and brothers, Gene and Gary Lucas. Special thanks to his care givers in his final days Paula Higgins and Pam Caudill. Visitation will take place at the Whitehall Church of the Nazarene, 739 S. Yearling Rd from 10-11AM on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Funeral service will follow at 11AM. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
