A funeral service celebratin­g the life of John C. Berryhill, age 78, of Newark, will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, August 24, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5-6pm prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. John was born June 20, 1943 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Jack Carlyton and Elizabeth (Morris)

Berryhill. He passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilita­tion. John was a graduate of Barnesvill­e High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University and later a Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University College of Law. Following college, John served in the United States Army for two years. John was an attorney and Magistrate in Licking County for over 45 years. An outdoor enthusiast, John enjoyed marathon running, bicycling, white water rafting, and camping. He had an incredible sense of humor and was an avid Ohio State and Jimmy Buffet fan. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and the Fraternal Order of Police. He is survived by daughters, Bethany Berryhill (Klaus) Krajewski of Granville and Rebekkah

Emmaline Berryhill (Maggie Margulies) of Kent; sons, Jordan Michael Berryhill of Newark and Jonathan Christophe­r Berryhill of Athens; four grandchild­ren, Madeline E. Vanderink, Zachary S. Vanderink, Simon A. Krajewski and Oliver L.J. Krajewski; former wives, Nancy S. Baker of Granville and Donna E. Berryhill of New Albany; an uncle, Guy Atkinson of Massillon; and a cousin, Betsy Atkinson of Massillon.
