Crowds should be bigger for golf tourney

Korn Ferry offers fans affordable entertainment

- Rob Oller Columnist Columbus Dispatch USA TODAY NETWORK

Let's try a little sports marketing experiment, shall we?

Using some of the most powerful words in advertising, what if I told YOU about a FREE and EASY way to DISCOVER a PROVEN entertainment option GUARANTEED to SECURE HEALTHY RESULTS?

LOVE to sign up for it right NOW? I'll throw two more hot-selling words in the mix, just to seal the deal: BEER and BUCKEYES.

SOLD yet? Probably not. History suggests that despite everything above being TRUE, it is a SAFE bet you remain hesitant. My goal is to change your mind by

demonstrating the positive attributes of GOLF. (OK, so G-O-L-F isn't one of the eye-catching advertising words, but it should be.)

But first, more questions: Ever been to an Ohio State football game? Crew game? Blue Jackets game? High school

game? Ever attended the Memorial Tournament? The only thing FREE about those sporting events is the air you breathe (OSU surprisingly has yet to trademark the oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide inside the Horseshoe).

But beginning Thursday, you can

watch for FREE 143 of the BEST golfers in the world (HONEST) tee it up at the Ohio State Scarlet Course during the Korn Ferry Tour's Nationwide Children's Championship.
