Here’s simple lesson for state legislator to help him understand free speech
Theodore Decker’s Aug. 24 column “State legislator wants to save us from Big Tech” was right on.
However, fearing that his discussion is too sophisticated for Al Cutrona, R-canfield, to grasp, I have a simpler example.
Suppose I own a bullhorn, perhaps the only bullhorn in central Ohio.
As I am standing at Broad and High streets broadcasting my political beliefs, Cutrona grabs my bullhorn from me and attacks my positions while promoting his own, since he seems to believe I am required to let him sound off using my device.
What has really happened?
Cutrona has usurped my ability to exercise my own right to free speech by interfering with my means of communicating.
If he wants to spread his ideas, he needs to buy his own bullhorn unless he has my permission to use mine.
Got it?
