Who will be OSU’S field goal kicker?
What Ohio State coach Ryan Day is looking for in a kicker is not a booming leg.
He wants an accurate one. Assessing a preseason camp kicking competition between North Carolina graduate transfer Noah Ruggles and redshirt freshman Jake Seibert last week, Day made his priorities clear.
“At the end of the day, it's going to come down to the guy who is the most consistent,” he said. “We don't need guys to make 55-yarders. We just need to make sure they're consistent inside of 25. Somewhere in that 30-yard range, they've just got to be good. If we can do that and make sure they're strong there, we'll be OK.”
