Brenda Kay Coen, age 66, of Springfiel­d, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2021 with her sisters by her side. She was born on September 12, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of James

Robert “Bob” and Wanda (Foster) Marshall. Brenda was a 1972 graduate of

Whetstone High School.

She attended Wittenberg

University, completing her

Undergradu­ate Degree and later her Master’s in Loveland,

Colorado, becoming a Licensed Profession­al

Counselor. Achieving her dream job with the National longing to be immersed in the beauty of nature and wildlife of the West. Her teaching experience and knowledge of geology and camping inspired an appreciati­on for those passions to others. Her compassion for others later led her to become a Licensed Profession­al

Counselor devoted to serving the severely mentally ill. Always surrounded by her pet family, plants, and a garden, these loves too were instilled in many. Brenda is survived by her mother, Wanda (Foster)

Marshall; two sisters, Linda (Kim) Mihely and Velma

Ryan (Erica) Mihely, Adam

Mihely, Tara Bigler and

Randy (Beth) Bigler; as well as several great-nieces and nephews. At Brenda’s request, no formal services will be held at this time.
