Pickerington Central 28, Cincinnati Elder 10
Pickerington Central used a fast and aggressive defense to help overcome an uncharacteristic three turnovers.
C.J. Doggette’s interception with 5:18 left helped deflate the Panthers’ hopes of a fourth-quarter comeback.
The senior defensive lineman also had a fumble recovery that set up a 15yard double reverse touchdown throw by Kasey Middendorf to Derek Grimes, who made a diving catch in the end zone to give Central a 21-10 lead with 5:43 left.
“We’ve been putting it in for two weeks now, and it’s really just when we need to break something and they’re not ready for it,” said Middendorf, who also caught a 7-yard scoring pass from Braden Mantooth that put the Tigers ahead 14-3 at halftime.
