Ohio State dominates preseason All-big Ten football team
Here's yet another poll predicting Ohio State will win the Big Ten conference in football.
In fact, the reporters who cover the Big Ten for Gannett newspapers unanimously picked the Buckeyes to win the league.
Ohio State also landed eight players on the preseason All-big Ten team, including quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was named preseason offensive player of the year. This is despite the fact that voting closed Aug. 20, the day before head coach Ryan Day officially named Stroud his starter.
There was another interesting quirk on the other side of the ball. Ohio State's Haskell Garrett was the only defensive lineman whose named appeared on every ballot, but Purdue defensive lineman George Karlaftis was selected preseason defensive player of the year.
Gannett papers that have at least one full-time reporter covering a Big Ten football team and that were invited to participate in this year's poll include The Columbus Dispatch, Detroit Free Press, Lansing State Journal, The Indianapolis Star, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Des Moines Register, West Lafayette Journal & Courier, York Daily Record, and Bergen Record.
