Ohio deserves better than Mandel

-

Re “What Josh Mandel did while out of public view,” Aug. 31: Wait a minute. Is this the same Josh pictured in June, lighting a match to a mask?

The one who is not shy about being funded by payday and title lenders? The one who says he wants to disrupt the status quo? What hasn’t Josh done to show us he is the status quo. And that stinks. Ohio must do better than to keep electing sophomoric clowns.

Biden is getting little right

Joe Biden may have messed up on Afghanistan, the Russian pipeline, not being able to handle rampant crime, the situation the border and rising inflation. But at least we can put our trust in him in handling COVID.

Masking not a big sacrifice

I read claims that “research” has proven the efficacy of wearing masks indoors, although I’ve yet to see such proof published for all to see. Have I just missed it? I also hear derision over mandating masks, claiming it’s futile, there are no statistics to prove their efficacy.

How does one prove a negative? How can we know how many more of our population might have been stricken and even died, absent the use of masks and other prevention protocols, while awaiting a proven vaccine? Has the idea of erring on the side of caution lost all relevance?

I’m ashamed of fellow citizens who are so selfish and determined not to make even one small sacrifice to wear a mask. It really seems so little to ask.
