Bishop Harry Melvin Myers, 87, of Richmond, Va., went to be with the Lord on Aug 30, 2021. Born in Columbus, Ohio on September 3, 1933 to Harry and Leah Myers, Harry served in the Army and was a Korean War veteran from 1950 to 1953. He worked for Columbia Gas Co. for 40 years and married his loving bride, Helen in 1960. Ordained in 1972, he served as a minister, pastor and servant of the Lord. He performed countless baptisms and marriages, presided over many funerals and preached at hundreds of revivals and conference­s. His passion for the Lord rang true in every word he spoke. Harry never knew a stranger, had a unique sense of humor and a generous heart and always had a kind word for every person he met. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Helen; children, Debbie Criner, Josh Myers, Dan Criner; grandchild­ren, Dalesha (Ben) Bowman, Danyel (Katie) Yates, Danny (Kayla) Criner; great-grandchild­ren, Jacob, Emmalyn, Zara; brother, Ronald; sister, Jean; many beloved nieces and nephews and his extended church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Dede and

Harry’s family will receive guests on Friday, September 3, 6-8pm at Bliley’s, 6900 Hull Street Rd. in Richmond and Wednesday, September 8 from 6-8pm at O. R. Woodyard, S High Street, Columbus. A celebratio­n of life service will be held on Thursday, September 9 at 11am at O.R. Woodyard, S High Street, Columbus, with interment to follow in Asbury Cemetery in Columbus.
