Betty Tate Garland Parker was born on Saturday, November 29, 1930, to the union of John and Stella Peterson Tate. She was preceded in death by both parents, as well as husbands William (Bill) Garland and Eddie Parker, brothers Curtis, John Jr, and Ova Tate, sisters Grace Hamilton and Mildred Bass, and special niece Nancy Simpson. Betty was employed with the Columbus Public Schools where she served as a computer room administra­tor for over 20 years. She also served as a teaching assistant at Columbus Montessori School for 17 years. Betty was a devoted member of Grace Apostolic Church where she served on the Usher Board and chaired several fund-raising programs for the Church. She cherished her time with her daughter, two sons, 6 grandchild­ren, and 7 great-grandchild­ren. Betty, age 90, left this earth Wednesday, August 4, 2021, for something greater than all our thoughts and dreams. She is now spending eternal life in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Beverly “Bunny” (Lloyd) Sutton of Michigan; sons, Steve Garland, and James (Patricia) Garland of California; sisters, Rachel Blake and Hazel Jones; 6 grandchild­ren, 7 great grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives as well as many friends. Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 11, at GRACE APOSTOLIC CHURCH, 1743 E. Lakeview Ave, Columbus, OH 43224. Family Hour at 10AM, Services at 11AM.
