Laura was born on April 11, 1948 to Eugenia and
Edward Forst in Munich,
Chicago, Illinois at age 17, and then got her Bachelor’s degree in Education at the
University of Illinois. After teaching high school for a few years in the Chicago area, she moved with her then-husband Dr. David Silverglade
to Columbus, Ohio where they went on to have three daughters, Elisa, Janna,
and Ilana, whom they raised in Bexley, Ohio. In 1982, Laura got her Masters
in Social Work at the
Ohio State University and in 1990 received her PHD in
Psychology from the Ohio
State University. Upon graduation, Laura dedicated her time and German Village practice to helping patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and dissociative identity disorders.
Laura moved to the Palm
Beach, Florida area in the early 2000s where she became a competitive bridge player and instructor, and worked on her whimsical, impressionistic art. Laura is survived by her children,
Elisa Silverglade, Janna and Dan Mandell, and Ilana and Ethan Roberts; and her grandchildren, Joe, Jackson,
Stella, Elijah, Jacob, and Mia. A virtual memorial service will be held on
September 9 at 7:30PM.
