Retiring Portman speaks up way too late to help Americans
Ohio’s Republican senator, Rob Portman, finally has found the courage to speak up.
Now that he is retiring from the Senate and a Democrat is in the White House, he has found his voice and found blame in the Democrats for our current economic situation. Had he stepped up to the plate in 2020 and blamed Republicans for their lack of response to COVID-19, maybe we wouldn’t be in this situation.
Perhaps if he had been more independent when Republicans were passing tax cuts and considered the plight of the poor and uninsured instead of the richest Americans, we wouldn’t need new programs to lift them out of poverty.
Portman has claimed the value of bipartisanship over the years, unfortunately he was only bipartisan when it suited the Republican party.
