Suspect sought in Whitehall sporting goods store robbery

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for informatio­n leading to the arrest of a man who robbed an athletic shoes and sports apparel store at gunpoint.

Whitehall police say the suspect entered the Hibbett Sports store 3878 E. Broad St., around 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 23. The man was wearing a green colored Tshirt, brown shorts, a black New York Yankees baseball hat, pink sneakers and a black face mask.

The man asked an employee to purchase two pairs of Jordan tennis shoes and when he was being checked out, the man showed a handgun and demanded money.

The employee ran out of the store and the suspect fled with the shoes, but did not get any money.

The man got into a dark-colored minivan that is possibly a Chevrolet Venture with a model year between 2001 and 2005.
