Kudos for column on helping teens become safe drivers
I want to publicly, and sincerely, thank Abbie Roth of Nationwide Children’s Hospital for her Sept. 5 special column, “Safe driving starts with parents, but tech helps.”
Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Center for Injury Research and Policy and Dr. Motoa Zhu in particular have been valuable allies in the long-running efforts to protect children (and adults) from injuries and deaths caused by cell phone use while driving.
Ms. Roth has now helped this effort by specifying phone use as one of the unsafe driving behaviors that some parents unwittingly model for their children.
I thank The Dispatch for printing this column, and I hope many parents will take Ms. Roth’s advice to heart. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
