Sheppheard, Hettie

1950 - 2021

-

Hettie Mae Sheppheard, age 71, saw her first sunrise on April 11, 1950 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Born to Geraldine and Guthrie Stevens, she was the 5th child of 8 children. Although Hettie had no biological children, she was a mother to all the many children whose lives she touched, and they all loved “Nane”. Her outgoing personality and generous spirit made her remembered and loved by all she encountered. Hettie loved when family came to visit her, or a family group chat popped up on her tablet. The big smile on her face told it all. She never allowed COVID to distract her from the things that brought her joy. A truly kind soul she always managed to think of others even though she was disabled and unable to care for herself. She talked to her brother Jerry and sister Edwina (Tinki) on a regular basis and was determined to make sure Jerry came to cut her hair and carry out acts of kindness on her behalf. Hettie was preceded in death by her father Guthrie Louis Stevens, and her mother Geraldine Stevens, her sisters Dorothy Ann (Eddie) Harris, Thelma Lucille (Richard) Young, Armada

Louise Mcdonald, and Sara Catharine (Frank) Wilson. The memories of Hettie will always be cherished by all who dearly loved her. Her sisters, Mattie Charoline Howard, (Dayton, Ohio), Edwenia Dean Rutledge, (Cincinnati, Ohio); and her brother, Jerry Martin Stevens, Sr. (Rhonda), (Columbus, Ohio); and a host of other family and friends. Memorial Celebration 1pm Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Oakley Full Gospel Baptist Church, 3415 El Paso Drive, where the family will receive friends from 12pm until start of service.
