Allen R. Laughbaum, age 93, of Howard, Ohio, formerly of Lancaster and Columbus, OH, died Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, OH. He was born in Crawford County, Ohio, son of the late Harold and Nettie (Cook) Laughbaum. Allen was a civil engineer who retired from Anchor Hocking after being employed there for more than 25 years. He then worked at the Piketon Energy Plant and several other governmental agencies. He was the loving husband of Shirley (Nickols) Laughbaum and would have celebrated 71 years of marriage on Sept 17, 2021. Besides Shirley, he was survived by children, Bruce Laughbaum, Marsha Traub, Randall [Jane] Laughbaum and Rae Jeanne [Ted] Shaffer; 11 grandchildren (one deceased); 16 great grandchildren (one deceased); and several nieces, nephews, and their children. Besides his parents, Allen was preceded in death by a brother, four sisters, and his son-in-law David Tim Traub. Allen was a compassionate soul who would often open his home to religious exchange students and family members. He loved to fish and hunt

snapping turtles, camp, travel, play bridge, and collect rocks, coins, and stamps. Most recently, he spent many hours studying the Bible and engaging in extensive research into the family genealogy.
