Ohio’s best: Top 21 high school boys soccer players this season

As a preview to this season, the high school sports staff of the Gannett Corp.’s more than 60 Ohio newspapers and websites compiled a who’s who of Ohio‘s prep boys soccer players. Here are the best boys soccer players in the state of Ohio:

1. Luciano Pechota, Cleveland St. Ignatius

2020 honors: United Soccer Coaches All-american, first-team all-state, Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Associatio­n Division I Player of the Year and Gatorade Ohio Boys Soccer Player of the Year.

2. Parker Cameron, Olentangy Liberty

2020 honors: first-team all-state in Division I, Central District Player of the Year and first-team All-ohio Capital Conference-central.

3. Kameron Kist, New Albany

2020 honors: second-team all-state, first-team all-district and Ohio Capital Conference Ohio Division Player of the Year.

4. Drew Boettcher, Centervill­e

2020 honors: first-team Greater Western Ohio Conference and second-team All-ohio.

5. Jayden Lunsford, Dublin Scioto

2020 honors: second-team all-state in Division I, first-team all-district and earned a share of Ohio Capital Conference-capital Player of the Year.

6. Aidan Eck, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy

2020 honors: first-team All-ohio and all-district squads in Division II.

7. Chase Alwood, Canal Winchester

2020 honors: second-team All-ohio in Division II.

8. Uleto Fuentes, Twinsburg

2020 honors:first-team ALL-SLNC and all-district selection, second-team Allohio selection in Division I.

9. Mitchell Cosler, Beavercree­k (tie)

2020 honors: first-team Greater Western Ohio Conference and second-team All-ohio.

2020 honors: second-team all-state, first-team all-district and All-central Catholic League.

13. Andrew Shaffer, Desales (tie)

2020 honors: first-team all-state, firstteam all-district and first-team All-central Catholic League.

2020 honors: Division II second-team All-ohioan, a Division II first-team alldistric­t selection and Mid-ohio Athletic Conference first-team.

2020 honors: Metro Athletic Conference

Player of the Year, second-team Allohio and first-team All-district selection in Division II.

16. Mason Grudich, West Milton Milton-union

2020 honors: co-player of the year in the Southweste­rn Buckeye League’s Buckeye Division, second-team Allohio.

17. Andrew Allsop, Findlay

2020 honors: second-team All-ohio in Division I and United Soccer Coaches all-region.

18. Jacob Miller, Lima Shawnee

2020 honors: first-team All-ohio in Division II.

2020 honors: second-team all-state in Division II and first-team all-district and ALL-CCL.
