Bold action is needed now on climate change; Brown can lead
Wildfires burning brightly in the West, flooding inundating the East, and hurricanes blowing to our South. Climate change is here today and is fueled by more greenhouse gases in our atmosphere.
Its impact is being felt across the country, and the biggest burden often is shouldered by the most vulnerable among us. Congress must act today with action that meets the moment. And Ohioans are lucky that Sen. Sherrod Brown has a key role to play on the Finance Committee in the Senate during Budget Reconciliation.
I am hopeful he supports a carbon fee with a border carbon adjustment and cash-back to the American people. We must ensure that polluters pay their fair share, that we create good-paying union jobs of the energy future right here in Ohio, and that we take care of the most vulnerable members of our communities as we make the transition to a zero-carbon economy.
These policies do all of that while also taking the bold action we need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We must address climate change for the "people impact" issue it is, and today is the time for action.
