When pressed, critical race theory opponents reveal flawed thinking

I enjoyed The Dispatch online conversati­on about critical race theory — it was a lively and civil exchange of ideas.

I was eager to hear what reasons those wanting to ban teaching CRT in schools would present. They tried very hard to sound reasonable, but their motivation was apparent when pressed for details. Rep. Don Jones, the author of HB 322, stressed several times that he wants students to learn about history, but that he wants them to think about both sides of an issue. There aren’t two sides to a discussion about slavery or Jim Crow laws or redlining. There aren’t any positives that would be moral or legal or humane.
