Defeat armyworms responsibly

-

The invasion of the armyworm has affected my neighborhood north of Columbus, too. (Sept. 4 Dispatch article, “Armyworms Invade Suburbs.”)

Often people think the first and only option to deal with these destructive caterpillars is to use toxic pesticides.

Natural, safe and effective pesticides are available too. Beneficial nematodes can be sprayed on a lawn with a hose and attachment.

They will go to battle with the worms and do no harm to the birds that like to eat this battalion of armyworms.
