Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Louella Petry died at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus, OH on August 30, 2021. She was born in 1930 in Gueydan, LA and in 1947 entered the congregation of the Eucharistic Missionaries of St. Dominic, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. She earned degrees from Marygrove College and Xavier University. She also earned Certifications in

Montessori and Catechist education, Theology, and Clinical Pastoral Education. She ministered as a Montessori teacher, religion teacher and hospital chaplain. She also served her congregation as an Archivist. She was preceded in death by her parents Reno and Sylvania Vincent Petry, her brothers Melvin, Milton, Erwin, and Paul, and her sisters Velma Lemaire and Evelyn Goller. She is survived by nieces and nephews. A private Funeral Service will be held at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel. Burial will take place at a later date at Gueydan Cemetery, Gueydan, LA by Egan-ryan and Vincent Funeral Homes.
