Donald C. Mathews, age 88, of Grove City, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021. He was born in Barnesville, Ohio on November 6, 1932, to the late Charles and Hazel Mathews. He retired from Approved Roofing and Sheet Metal where he was a superintendent. Donald was a US Marine Corps. Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Sheet Metal Workers 98/24, VFW #8198, American Legion #164, Marine Corps League and was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Notre Dame Fan. Preceded in death by his brothers Charles, Richard and Frederick Mathews. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Pat Mathews; sons, Donald, John, Michael (Jody), Mark (Heather) and Tim (Nedia) Mathews; grandchildren, Ryan, Kelly, John Michael, Jennifer, Joshua, Christopher, Brenden, Mariah, Shane and Meghan; great grandchildren, Brighton, Kensi and Charlotte; sisters, Iris Grenert and Jean Beery; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may visit on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 5-8pm with a Prayer Service at 8pm at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City, Ohio 43123. Funeral Mass will be at 10am Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3730 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123, with Rev. Fr. Joe Yokum Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. A special Thank You to the Hospice Care workers from Mt. Carmel Hospice. Memorial donations may be made to the Guardian Angel fund c/o OLPH church.
