Mcclernon, Peter

-

Peter Mcclernon was so many things to so many people during his 76 years on this Earth. He was a son, a brother, a friend, a teacher, and a musician, but most important to him was being a husband, father, and grandfather. He would often regal me with the story of how he came to decide to leave the seminary which he entered into at 13 yrs old. He said he couldn’t imagine not being able to create his own family, and in the end he wanted a family more than he wanted to be a priest. As his daughter, knowing that, made me feel even more special and loved than I already felt, as my parents made sure every day of our lives that we heard or felt loved by them. And that is the secret of what made my dad so beloved by so many, he made each of us feel a little extra loved, a little extra special. He and my mother created a large and expansive community of support for me throughout their lives together and it is that community that I wish to invite to celebrate Pete’s life. My father passed away on Christmas Morning this past year, and due to the pandemic surge at the time we have been unable to appropriately and adequately plan a service that would allow all those who wish to attend until vaccines were more widely available. We will be celebrating his life on September 19, 2021 at St. Simon and Jude Church, 9350 High Free Pike, West Jefferson, OH 43162. Memorial Service begins at 2:30pm with a reception immediately following in the church social hall and outdoor covered pavilion. We would love to have you join us. We ask that people regardless of vaccination status to wear masks indoors and those who are not vaccinated to wear masks both indoors and outdoors. The service will also be live streamed on social media. Our family will have a private interment at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements by EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. BROAD ST.
