Vergil L. Toppins, 82, of Grove City, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Mount Carmel Grove City Hospital due to Covid. He was born November 11,1938 in Tony, WV the son of the late Delbert

and Ethel (Vernatter) Toppins. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Johnson Knisley Toppins; step-son, Josh Knisley; son, Smike Toppins; daughter, Mary; sister-in-law, Brenda Johnson; sister-in-law, Brenda (Roger) Wallace; niece, Samantha (Brad) Price; nephew, Sam (Cassie) Johnson; nephew, John (Louanne) Fields; special

friends, Jimmy Hatfield, Bud

Partlow, Charley Horsley, Bob and Carol lgo, Ric and

Marry Mcgiffin; and a host

of other family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him and especially his 4 legged buddies, Buster and Cry Baby. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased his brother

Ralph and sister Marie. Vergil was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired, not by choice, but worked at several trucking companies through the years, including, Mid-state Diesel, Smith Roofing & Benson Trucking. Graveside services will be held 3pm Sunday, September 19, 2021 in the Pennisten Cemetery, Nipgen Rd., Waverly. Those attending the service will need to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.
