Fox O.P., Sr. Mary Jo

Dominican Sister of Peace, Sister Mary Jo Fox (Sister Nicholas) died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on September 19, 2021. She was born in 1929 in Lancaster, OH and in 1947 entered the congregation of St. Mary of the Springs, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace. She earned degrees from the College of St. Mary of the Springs, now Ohio Dominican University, Providence College, and Fordham University. She taught in grade schools in Connecticut, New York, and in the Columbus diocese at Holy Trinity in Somerset, and in Columbus at Our Lady of Peace, Christ the King, Holy Spirit, and St. James the Less. After earning her doctorate degree, she taught at Albertus Magnus College, Maryknoll Seminary, and Ohio Dominican University. She served as a Counselor at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa, IA. She was Director of Religious Education in Florida, and Iowa, and served as a Religious Ed. Consultant in the Cleveland diocese. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Fox and Norah O’neill Fox, and her brothers Joseph, Lawrence, John, Hugh and Carmen. She is survived by her brothers, Patrick and Paul; and several nieces and nephews. A private funeral service will be held at the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse Chapel followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery by EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME.
