Sensabaugh commits to Ohio State
Brice Sensabaugh was pretty far down his recruiting trail when an offer from a thousand miles away changed everything.
In early August, the small forward from Orlando Lake Highland Prep had announced the list of his eight top potential college destinations and was setting up visits when Ohio State offered a scholarship.
A few weeks and a couple of official visits later, Sensabaugh is a Buckeye. The four-star prospect in the 247Sports.com composite database has committed to Ohio State as the fifth member of its 2022 recruiting class.
“I felt like ever since Ohio State offered, I just had a place in my heart for them because I'm from Ohio, my dad's from Ohio and my whole dad's side of the family lives there,” the Cincinnatiborn Sensabaugh said. “There was always a place in my heart for them. Ever since they offered, I kind of knew it just kind of felt right.”
Projecting next season's roster is a challenge, but Sensabaugh's ability to score and play with physicality should have him in line for immediate playing time as a freshman. The Buckeyes will lose Justice Sueing, Seth Towns and Kyle Young. E.J. Liddell, too, is likely playing his final season for Ohio State.
It means there's opportunity there, but Sensabaugh isn't taking it for granted.
“A lot of guys (are) leaving, so my position is really wide open,” he said. “One thing about the coaches that stood out to me was they were super transparent and honest. They didn't tell me everything I wanted to hear. They told me I had to work and earn everything I've got, which is what I want to do.” ajardy@dispatch.com @Adamjardy
