Body parts found inside condo are those of Defiance woman
Dismembered body parts found Wednesday morning inside a Far West Side condo home during a drug raid have been determined to be those of one person, Columbus police said Thursday.
The remains were identified by police as 32-year-old Allyson Lorenz, a woman from Defiance in northwest Ohio whom Franklin County records show is one of the co-owners of the condo property along with a man with the same last name.
Police spokesman Sgt. James Fuqua said Franklin County Sheriff’s office deputies had executed a search warrant around 7 a.m. at a condo on the 1800 block of Bashan Drive in connection with suspected drug trafficking.
When deputies were inside the home, they discovered evidence of what appeared to be a homicide scene and a body part, Fuqua said.
Multiple people inside the home at the time the warrant was executed were detained for questioning. None of those individuals appear to have been
charged with any crimes as of mid-afternoon Thursday, according to Franklin County Municipal Court records.
The deputies contacted Columbus police, whose jurisdiction the condo is in, and city detectives took over the homicide investigation.
Fuqua said additional body parts were later located inside the condo by detectives and investigators from the Franklin County Coroner’s office .
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting Columbus police with processing the crime scene because of the unique circumstances of the homicide and the amount of suspected narcotics located in the residence, Fuqua said.
Police have not officially said whether Lorenz’s death is a homicide. An autopsy is being conducted by the coroner’s office.
The investigation is not believed to be tied to any other homicides in the area at this time, Fuqua said. bbruner@dispatch.com @bethany_bruner
