Columbus area gets a new state representative
Ohio has a new state representative and her name is Latyna Humphrey.
Democrats chose Humphrey to replace former state Rep. Erica Crawley, D-columbus, who left the legislature earlier this year to become a Franklin County commissioner.
“I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to be a voice for my community and work together to restore Ohio’s promise of better lives, brighter futures and an economy that works for everyone,” Humphrey said in a statement.
Humphrey will join the other 34 Democrats in the Ohio House in the coming weeks and represent House District 26, which includes part of Columbus, Bexley, Groveport and Reynoldsburg.
She currently serves as a bailiff at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas and is the President of the Central Ohio Young Black Democrats.
“Latyna Humphrey’s experience, leadership and dedication to public service is a great fit for the working people and families of the 26th House District,” Rep. Daniel Troy, Dwillowick, said in a statement. “She will be an invaluable asset to our caucus and a powerful voice for the community she represents.”
