Ohioans now can get a copy of their driver’s license online

If for some reason you need another copy of your Ohio driver's license, you won't have to dread taking the trip to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

On Monday, the BMV announced that an Ohioan can order an exact reprint of his or her driver's license or identification card online, potentially saving 500,000 in-person visits to deputy registrar offices per year, according to the state.

“We are constantly evaluating, improving, and enhancing the overall customer experience by providing our customers with as many innovative options as possible that better meet their diverse needs,” said Ohio BMV Registrar Charles Norman in a news release.

One can visit BMV Online Services at bmvonline.dps.ohio.gov, select "DL/ID Reprint," then log in.

Only Ohioans with valid credentials will be able to take advantage of the option. Only reprints of licenses with existing on-file information qualify, so if an address, name or other information needs has to be changed, you'll have to visit in person.

Individuals are limited to just one online reprint per renewal period.
