Mengele comparison inexcusable

-

Monday’s letter from Kerry Moore (“Abortions aren’t ‘compassionate’”) in response to one by Martha Sanders (Sept. 30, “Abortion can be a compassionate choice”) shocked me. So Kerry Moore believes Sanders’ logic would “make Josef Mengele wince.” Really?

Does Moore have any knowledge of the horrors of the Holocaust?

Josef Mengele was responsible for the slaughter of thousands of men, women (including those who were pregnant), children, and yes, infants. Moreover, he conducted horrific experiments on them before killing them. He was inhuman. This is who would wince!

To trivialize this dark time in recent history by minimizing Josef Mengele’s complicity in the extermination of 6 million Jews is unconscionable. Shame on you.

Florence Gurwin, Columbus

Note from Opinion Editor Amelia Robinson: Josef Mengele, an SS physician during World War II, was known as the Angel of Death. He performed medical experiments on prisoners at Auschwitz.
