Helping with multiple chronic conditions

Startup wants to support people’s quality of life

- Mark Williams

A startup with a focus on managing the health of patients with multiple chronic conditions has secured a round of funding meant to broaden the development and availability of its platform.

Redi.health announced the funding Wednesday that was led by Clevelandbased Mutual Capital Partners. Other partners include M25, Rev1 Ventures and Plug and Play. Redi.health did not disclose the amount of funding.

The financing will support the continued growth of the team along with its strategy to expand in the health care industry. Redi.health has seven employees now and expects to continue to grow through the rest of the year.

The company is operating out of Rev1’s offices at 1275 Kinnear Road.

The number of people with three or more chronic diseases is expected to triple to nearly 90 million patients in the next decade.

Redi.health combines health and pharmaceutical management into one tool to help people improve their adherence and quality of life.

“The complex needs of polychronic patients have not yet been addressed by the market — so we’ve focused on developing a technology that is built for them,” said Luke Buchanan, co-founder and CEO of Redi.health.

Buchanan and others involved in the startup used for to work for health care technology company Covermymeds. Another cofounder worked for Beam Dental. Both are based in Columbus.

The company got off the ground in June.

Patients don’t pay anything for the service that Redi.health provides.

Redi.health’s goal is to put more simplified tools in the hands of patients to help them control their health.

It is meant for patients who take at least three to five medications per day, have symptoms to track, need to be able to communicate with multiple healthcare providers.

All of these patients are eligible for additional services whether it is financial help, education or transportation, he said. Often, these patients aren’t aware of these services and many feel they don’t have the tools to effectively manage their health.

Services include medication and health trackers along with providing health information.

Redi.health partners with pharmaceutical companies, pharmacy benefit managers and other companies in health care to create customized programs for patients.

“The traction we’ve had with customers has been great,” Buchanan said. mawilliams@dispatch.com @Bizmarkwilliams
