In addition to her role as loving and supportive wife and mother, she also held a variety of other jobs, including her most cherished job as secretary at St. Matthias School, retiring in 1996. Marlene was an active member of the North American Rockwell Arrowettes, the Worthington Women’s Club, and the Scandinavian Club of Columbus. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, crossword puzzles and bowling. Marlene used a unique vocabulary to describe the amount of food or beverage she wanted. Whether it was a “sliver” of pie, a “nip” of her favorite ice cream, or just a “skosh” of wine, Marlene found great joy in the simple things. She loved to tell people she was tough because she had six kids. Her spunky, fun, and feisty nature kept us all in line.
